Educator Workforce Investment Grant: Special Education

Funding Description

The Educator Workforce Investment Grant is established by Senate Bill 75, Chapter 51, Statutes of 2019, to support a competitive grant for professional learning opportunities for teachers and paraprofessionals across the state. The California Department of Education and the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence shall provide $5 million in total for a one-time grant for special education-related professional development.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Institutions of higher education
Required Eligibility Criteria Lead applicants must be an institution of higher education (IHE) or a non-profit organization (NPO) with demonstrated expertise in developing and providing professional learning to teachers and paraprofessionals in public schools serving kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive. Applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge and capacity to implement special education-related professional development in a manner that aligns with the Statewide System of Support. If multiple IHEs or NPOs partner, a lead applicant must be identified.
Other Eligibility Considerations Positive consideration will be given to applicants who propose to partner with a county office of education or a consortium of county offices of education.
