Expanded Learning Opportunities Grants (Federal Funds)


Funding Description

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant (ELO-G) provides funding to county offices of education (COE), school districts, and charter schools to provide academic interventions and pupil supports to address barriers to learning, and accelerate progress to close learning gaps. Amendments to Education Code (EC)Section 43521 shifted $2,016,330,000 of state funding to four sources of federal stimulus funds.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for federal ELO-G apportionments, local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to submit federal assurances and also comply with quarterly expenditure reporting. Federal funds will be paid in separate apportionments for each fund source.
Other Eligibility Considerations LEAs receiving funds pursuant to EC 43521(b), were required to adopt a plan by June 1, 2021, describing how funds will be used; and also implement a learning recovery plan pursuant to 43522(a)(1). A final expenditure report must be submitted by December 1, 2024. Funds are subject to annual audit.
