Migrant Education Program: California Mini-Corps Program

NOTE: The application due date for this program has passed.

Funding Description

Funding through the application process supports the development of a statewide college tutoring program for migratory students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Butte County Office of Education will establish a network of program sites at colleges across the state that collaborate with local Migrant Education Program (MEP) subgrantees to place college tutors in classrooms to support migratory students that are academically at-risk and demonstrate a priority for service. In addition, the qualified applicant will strive to hire bilingual (Spanish) college students (preferably formerly migratory students) and provide training and support to those students who are strongly interested in pursuing a teaching career. The California Mini-Corps program mentors college tutors to become future bilingual teachers, providing them with hands-on training and work experience for their future profession.
