Funding Description
The Local Assistance Entitlements, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Special Education funds are specifically allocated for special education and services to children with disabilities ages three through twenty-one.

| Required Eligibility Criteria |
To receive funds, a local educational agency (LEA) must submit a local plan to the state educational agency that contains assurances that are consistent with federal and state laws and regulations. |
| Other Eligibility Considerations |
LEAs must account for these funds as expenditures for pupils with an individualized education plan (IEP). LEAs must also account for the provision of the special education and related services required by students with disabilities in order to benefit from a public education. |
