Funding Description

Assembly Bill (AB) 1808 appropriated $4 million annually to establish the California Geographic Lead Agency System to build county office of education capacity to ensure that counties are equipped to build the capacity of their local educational agencies to support the continuous improvement of student performance within the state priorities as defined in California Education Code Sections 52060 and 52066 and address the gaps in achievement between student groups as defined in Section 52052.

Required Eligibility Criteria Must be a county superintendent of schools and able to demonstrate: (1) expertise with the state priorities, (2) ability to identify, coordinate, and calibrate services to be made available to county offices of education and local educational agencies within its geographic region, (3) capacity to support county offices of education outside of the initial region if requested, and (4) plans for developing a regional consortium to establish and monitor progress toward goals for improved performance across multiple measures.
