California Serves Grant Program

The California Serves Grant supports eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) in developing service-learning opportunities that prepare students to earn the State Seal of Civic Engagement (SSCE). Established under Education Code Section 51475, the program funds initiatives that integrate service-learning and civics into academic instruction. Grants help LEAs build sustainable service-learning programs that support the SSCE, expand access to civic engagement in rural and urban communities, and strengthen student voice and leadership, from 2025–26 through 2027–28.

Applicants do not need to sign and return them with the application; they must be downloaded and kept on file for compliance reviews, complaint investigations, or audits. Applicants that participate in the Consolidated Application - ConApp - should have a copy on file and do not need another copy. Program-specific assurances are not included here and should be listed separately on the RFA. |
