Apportionment to the County of Kern for the ShePower Leadership Academy
Fiscal Year 2022–23
This apportionment, in the amount of $500,000, is made from the General Fund to the to the County of Kern pursuant to Control Section 19.56(c)(1)(A) added to the Budget Act of 2022 in Section 233 of Assembly Bill (AB) 178 (Chapter 45, Statutes of 2022), and amended by Section 207 of AB 179 (Chapter 249, Statutes of 2022) for the ShePower Leadership Academy. The apportionment represents 100 percent of the funds and will be distributed to the County of Kern in fiscal year 2022-23.
Legislative intent for this funding is to provide support, educate and mentor young people with a current business or a budding entrepreneurial idea to advance their business, entrepreneurial work, and/or workforce development growth. Furthermore, pursuant to Control Section 19.56(a), funds shall be available for encumbrance through June 30, 2024, and expenditure until June 30, 2026. Funds may be used to pay for costs incurred prior to the enactment of AB 179.
