USDA Grants to Support Farm to School


The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced three grant opportunities that support Farm to School efforts. School districts are eligible to apply for these two-to-three-year grants. There is a required 25 percent cash or in-kind contribution.

Deadlines: Applications are due by Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

Local Food Promotion Program:

The Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP) funds projects that develop and expand local and regional food business enterprises that engage as intermediaries in indirect producer to consumer marketing. Examples of LFPP activities include shared-use kitchens, food hubs, and food incubators. Nationally, approximately $13.84 million in funding is available.

Farmers Market Promotion Program:

The Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) funds projects that develop, coordinate, and expand direct producer-to-consumer markets. Examples of FMPP activities include farmers markets, roadside stands, agritourism activities, community-supported agriculture programs, or online sales. Nationally, approximately $13.84 million in funding is available.

Regional Food Systems Partnerships:

Regional Food Systems Partnerships (RFSP) supports public-private partnerships that plan and develop relationships between local and regional producers, processors, intermediaries, and institutional markets or institutional food service operations. Nationally, there is $4.71 million in funding.
