In addition to the California State Board of Education (SBE) English Learner Roadmap Policy: Educational Programs and Services for English Learners (EL Roadmap Policy) (below), which was passed by the SBE on July 12, 2017, the California English Learner Roadmap: Strengthening Comprehensive Educational Policies, Programs, and Practices for English Learners (CA EL Roadmap) was informed by the results of a survey, federal and state statutes governing essential services for English learners, and public input including philanthropists, community members and others interested in English learner education. The CA EL Roadmap highlights evidence-based practices, promising models, exemplary practices, and effective inclusion of new federal and state legal requirements.
