Survey: Ultra Processed Foods

The California Department of Education (CDE) is requesting your participation in a voluntary survey to gather information on ultra processed foods in school meals.

On January 3, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-01-25 directing state agencies to recommend potential actions to limit the harms associated with ultra processed foods (UPFs) and food ingredients that pose a health risk to individuals.

The CDE is seeking your feedback to help identify:

  • Current efforts to reduce ultra processed foods in school meals
  • Recommendations and considerations when exploring higher nutrition standards for school meals

Your responses will inform the development of CDE’s response to the Executive Order.

Due Date: Monday, April 28, 2025
