Charter School Certification of Information
Information and instructions for completing the online Charter School Certification of Information.Section Menu
Background
Charter schools annually certify their information that is on file with the California Department of Education (CDE) for the upcoming fiscal year through the Charter School Certification of Information (COI).
The data reported and certified by charter schools through the COI serve several purposes. The data help inform state education policy, contribute to required reporting for the U.S. Department of Education, and support charter school authorization, oversight, and accountability. Additionally, the data promote transparency across California’s public education system by ensuring that accurate, up-to-date information about charter schools is publicly available and consistently maintained.
The Certification of Information and Instruction Guide
Charter school administrators are authorized to report and certify charter school information to the CDE. They may designate a full-time paid employee of the charter school who has direct knowledge and information of the charter school to report and certify information.
The 2026–27 COI opened Monday, May 11, 2026, and closed May 22, 2026. Updates to a charter school's information for the 2026–27 fiscal year may no longer be made via the COI.
For specific information about and instructions for reporting and certifying charter school data, please reference the COI instruction guide linked below.
