Background
In May 2026, charter schools will certify their information that is on file with the California Department of Education (CDE) for the subsequent fiscal year through the Charter School Certification of Information (COI), a web-based data collection that is available to all charter school administrators as of Monday, May 11, 2026.
The data reported and certified by charter schools through the COI serve several purposes. The data help inform state education policy, contribute to required reporting for the U.S. Department of Education, and support charter school authorization, oversight, and accountability. Additionally, the data promote transparency across California’s public education system by ensuring that accurate, up-to-date information about charter schools is publicly available and consistently maintained.
Accessing the Certification of Information and Instruction Guide
Charter school administrators are authorized to report and certify charter school information to the CDE. Charter school administrators may designate a full-time paid employee of the charter school who has direct knowledge and information of the charter school to report and certify information. The COI will open on Monday, May 11, 2026.
The deadline to report, certify, and submit all information is Friday, May 22, 2026, at 5 p.m.

Certification of Information
The following information will be reported and certified by charter school administrators as it pertains to their charter schools for the 2026–27 fiscal year:
- Directory Information
Identifying information including, but not limited to, charter school name, charter school number, location, administrator information, and enrollment. - Chartering Authority Information
Information regarding the chartering authority and the primary charter school oversight contact at the chartering authority. - Operations and Facilities
Information regarding the charter school’s organization type, governing board, charter school facilities, and any additional sites the charter school may have. - Program Information
Information regarding the charter school’s funding type, data reporting type, instructional type, special education, and any exclusive partnership or middle or middle college high school. - Acknowledgment and Certification
Review and certification of the information provided.

Data collected via the COI for FY 2024–25 and FY 2025–26 are provided below. Some data has been reviewed and validated; all other data are presented as reported directly by the charter schools.
