Special Education: Mental Health Services (State)


Funding Description

Funds are apportioned to Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) based on average daily attendance (ADA). They are used to support all mental health-related services to students with or without an individualized education program pursuant to the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and as described in the California Education Code (EC) Section 56836.07 and EC Section 56363.

Allocation Formula Funds are based on ADA reported for the 2019-20 Second Principal (P-2) Apportionment. The first apportionment of 50 percent of the appropriated funds will be calculated and apportioned in the fall 2020. A second apportionment of the remaining 50 percent of funds will be apportioned in the spring 2021. An adjustment is made, consistent with existing law, for the Los Angeles Juvenile Court and Community School SELPA.
