Dear Kern County Superintendent of Schools:

Apportionment to the
Kern County Superintendent of Schools
for the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team,
Fiscal Year 2024–25

This apportionment, in the amount of $1,000,000, is made to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) from funds provided in Provision 4 of Item 6100-488 of the Budget Act of 2024 (Chapter 22, Statutes of 2024), as amended by Section 22 of Assembly Bill 100 (Chapter 2, Statutes of 2025), in support of the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT). The amount apportioned is equal to 100 percent of the amount available.

Funding is provided to FCMAT for costs associated with providing technical assistance to local educational agencies impacted by the fires. By June 30, 2025, Los Angeles Unified School District, Pasadena Unified School District, and any impacted charter schools located within those school districts, may request FCMAT to conduct an evaluation of the need for additional funding and statutory changes for the 2026–27, 2027–28, and 2028–29 fiscal years as a result of the state of emergency declared by the Governor in January 2025. FCMAT shall provide recommendations to the Department of Finance, the Legislature, and the California Department of Education (CDE) by November 1, 2025.

A warrant will be mailed to the Kern County Treasurer approximately four weeks from the date of this letter. The KCSOS was notified of this apportionment by email which was sent to its CDEfisc email address. The CDE requested that the email be forwarded to FCMAT, and included the links to this letter and the apportionment schedule which are posted on the CDE web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/fc/index.asp.

If you have any questions regarding this apportionment or the payment process, please contact the Categorical Allocations and Audit Resolution Office by email at CAAR@cde.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

John Miles, Interim Director
School Fiscal Services Division
