    Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) must convene a resolution session within 15 days of receiving a parents’ complaint unless the meeting is waived by both parties or the parent and the LEA agree to mediation [34 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Section 300.510(a)(3)(i-ii)]. The CDE monitors LEAs’ compliance with resolution period requirements as a part of the CDE’s general supervisory responsibilities. The CDE, in conjunction with the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), is required to collect data on resolution session timelines and their outcomes. The Notice of Resolution Outcome Session form template, available at the above web page, may be used to report information on whether Resolution Sessions were held in a particular case.
