The WAI Advisory welcomes public involvement. Opportunities for public comment are provided at every meeting.

8:30–9:00 a.m. Item 1–Call to Order: Welcome and Introductions; Mission and Vision; Approval of Minutes.
9:00–9:30 a.m. Item 2–The California Youth Leadership Forum (YLF): The California YLF is a statewide program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with disabilities to better prepare them for the transition after high school, build self-advocacy, connect them to resources and services and celebrate disability history, culture, and community. Matt Baker, Project Manager from the California Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, will present on the topic and WAI Advisory will explore areas for future collaboration.
9:30–10:30 a.m. Item 3–California Department of Education Updates: CDE staff will discuss recent developments within the SED, as well as updates to key areas related to the WAI grant.
10:30–10:40 a.m. Break
10:40–11:10 a.m. Item 4–Student Voice: The WAI Advisory Student Voice workgroup will present a summary of their research regarding the inclusion of youth with disabilities in the WAI Advisory Committee and propose recommendations at this time.
11:10–11:15 a.m. Item 5–General Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. The Chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.
11:15 a.m.–12:45 p.m. Lunch
12:45–1:30 p.m. Item 6–WorkAbility I Advisory Committee Bylaws: The WAI Advisory will discuss and vote on proposed updates to the WAI Advisory Committee Bylaws, after which the Bylaws will be provided to the CDE for approval.
1:30–2:15 p.m. Item 7–Committee and Region Updates: WAI Region co-managers and committee chairs provide news, updates, and progress on plans for the 2023–24 fiscal year.
2:15–2:20 p.m. Item 8–General Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. The Chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.
2:20–2:30 p.m. Item 9–WorkAbility I Advisory Committee Recommendations to the California Department of Education: The WAI Advisory Committee continues to develop a list of recommendations to the CDE.
