Systems Update for 2026–27 Interim Assessments
From Friday, July 31, at 5 p.m. to Tuesday, August 4, at 8 a.m., CAASPP and ELPAC systems will be updated to prepare for the 2026–2027 interim assessments. While CAASPP and ELPAC systems will be available during this time, CAASPP and ELPAC interim assessments will be unavailable for administration, local scoring, and viewing in the following systems:
- Data Entry Interface
- Interim Assessment Viewing System
- Teacher Hand Scoring System (THSS)
- Test Delivery System
The interim assessments, along with other CAASPP and ELPAC components, will become available for the 2026–27 test administration when system updates are completed, at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Deadline for 2025–26 Interim Assessment Hand Scoring
Student responses for the interim assessments will no longer be available for hand scoring and will be cleared from the THSS after 5 p.m. on July 31. To ensure that student results from all completed 2025–26 interim assessments appear in the CERS, all outstanding hand scoring must be completed before the system downtime begins.
If the LEA does not intend for scores from certain administrations of interim assessments to be sent to CERS, then no action is needed. Student responses will be cleared from the THSS as scheduled.
Hand scoring for the interim assessments is a local responsibility. Please note that, for the Smarter Balanced Interim Comprehensive Assessments (ICAs), hand scoring for both parts of the ICA—the computer-based assessment and the performance task—must be completed and submitted to generate results in CERS.
