Modifications to Accommodate Disabilities

The California Department of Education (CDE) has updated the Disability Modifications Including Food Allergies web page, the Modifications to Accommodate Disabilities Management Bulletin (MB), and the Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations form (CNP-925).

The web page and MB explain the requirements related to accommodating students with disabilities for school food authorities participating in the School Nutrition Programs (SNPs). The updates include guidance on assessing the requests for substitutions and other modifications, requirements for meal service, and reimbursement. In addition, the web page, MB, and CNP-925 also add registered dietitians to the list of health professionals permitted to complete medical statements, effective April 1, 2025.
