January 12, 2011 Update
The California State Board of Education will continue its January 12, 2011 meeting on Thursday, January 13, 2011, as follows:
1. Closed Session will commence at 9:00 a.m.
2. Public Session will commence immediately following the Closed Session, reopening Item 1 for Board Member orientations. This session will be informational only, and no action will be taken.
UPDATE: The following individuals listed on the Agenda are no longer members of the State Board of Education: Ted Mitchell, Alan Arkatov, Benjamin Austin, James Fang, and David Lopez. The following individuals not listed on the Agenda will be joining the State Board of Education as members on Wednesday, January 12, 2011: Carl Cohn, Bill Honig, Michael W. Kirst, James L. Ramos, and Patricia Rucker. In addition, due to the large number of new members joining the Board, several items have been withdrawn by staff to the State Board and Department of Education, as indicated on the updated Agenda. The Board will not have sufficient time to prepare for and act on those items.
It is anticipated that all of the items that have not been withdrawn will be heard on Wednesday, January 12, 2011.

Generally speaking, the agenda will be uploaded ten days prior to the State Board's monthly meeting. Additionally, the agenda items will be uploaded ten days prior to the State Board meeting along with any supporting materials that are electronically available. The supporting materials (e.g., attachments, addendums, SBE commentary, or related reports) will be listed below the item number as they become available electronically.
