The California Department of Education is requesting a Tydings waiver for the period of FY 2023, 21st CCLC funds awarded under Section 4201 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended, until September 30, 2026. This request to extend the obligation period is submitted under section 421(b) of the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA). This permits the California Department of Education under the criteria it develops, to expend the remaining FY 2023 awarded balance related to this waiver request.
Waiving the expiration period will advance student achievement by providing adequate opportunity to fully address and support student needs as stated in the grant application, and specifically by providing the necessary flexibility to spend down vital funds that will assist subrecipients in meeting those student needs.
A public comment period is open for interested parties and members of the public to submit comments concerning this Tydings Waiver request until July 17, 2025. All inquiries should be addressed to Joshua Brady and submitted to JBrady@cde.ca.gov.
