CNIPS Training Registration Instructions

Information on how to use the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) Training Registration Module to access information about and to register for NSD-sponsored trainings.

The CNIPS Training Registration Module can be accessed two ways:

This CNIPS Training Registration Instructions web page contains the instructions necessary to register for a training, to modify an existing training registration, and to cancel a training registration in CNIPS. Additionally, directions for how to access contact information for NSD-sponsored trainings can be found at the bottom of this web page.

Please review the instructions below before starting the training registration process. In order to ensure that NSD-sponsored courses reach the most child nutrition program participants, please only register for one training location within a course. Duplicate registrations may be cancelled at NSD's discretion.

How to Register for a Training

Instructions for Child Nutrition Program Operators

  1. Obtain your agency’s five-digit CNIPS identification (ID) number or personal user ID and password.

  2. Access the California Department of Education (CDE) CNIPS Training Registration Module External link opens in new window or tab. web page to begin the online registration process.

  3. Use your agency’s CNIPS ID or personal user ID and password to register and follow the system prompts as shown below:

    3.1 Program Screen—select preferred program or all, select continue at the bottom of the screen

    3.2 Available Trainings Screen—select preferred course, select continue at the bottom of the screen

    3.3 Available Training Locations Screen—training locations are displayed in date order. Select preferred location, select continue at the bottom of the screen

    Please note, an asterisk appears next to training locations that are full and have a wait list. The Training Wait Lists section below provides guidance on how to add yourself to a wait list.

    3.4 Contact Information Screen—enter attendee contact information, select continue at the bottom of the screen.

  4. A confirmation email, with a training confirmation ID, will be sent to the email address provided upon completion of the registration process. Keep this email as you will need the confirmation ID number to modify or cancel your registration.

Instructions for All Other Participants

Please note that some courses and trainings are only visible to Child Nutrition Program operators.

  3. Use your agency’s CNIPS ID or personal user ID and password to register and follow the system prompts as shown below:

    3.1 Program Screen—select preferred program or all, select continue at the bottom of the screen

    3.2 Available Trainings Screen—select preferred course, select continue at the bottom of the screen

    3.3 Available Training Locations Screen—training locations are displayed in date order. Select preferred location, select continue at the bottom of the screen

Training Wait Lists

If a training is full and a wait list has been created, as indicated by a red asterisk next to the training location, please follow the prompts to enter your contact information to be added to the wait list. You will receive a confirmation email confirming that you were added to the wait list, the email will also indicate your position on the wait list.

As seats become available you will be automatically registered for the training in the order added to the wait list. Upon registration for the training you will receive a training confirmation email.

How to Modify an Existing Registration

Utilize the following instructions to modify an existing training registration. Changes to training registration include updating or changing the name of a training attendee or changing the training location you wish to attend.

  1. Obtain your training confirmation number.

  2. Access the CDE CNIPS Training Registration Module External link opens in new window or tab. web page to begin the online registration process.

  3. Under the Change my Registration heading, enter your training confirmation number where indicated.

  4. Select the preferred training location.

  5. After completing the Attendee Information and selecting the Continue button, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided upon completion of the registration process.

How to Cancel a Training Registration

If you are unable to attend a training and require a cancellation, please contact the CNIPS Help Desk weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by email at CNIPS@cde.ca.gov. If possible, please provide your registration confirmation number when cancelling your registration.

How to Access Training-Specific Information

Questions about a specific training should be directed to the contact person listed in the CNIPS training description or at the bottom of the training announcement. If this information is unavailable, please contact the CNIPS Help Desk to be directed to the contact person for the training for which you are inquiring.
