Preschool Language Information System (PLIS) Overview
In August 2022, the Early Education Division (EED) at the California Department of Education (CDE) released Management Bulletin 22-04, which informed California State Preschool Program (CSPP) contractors of new requirements for identifying and collecting data on dual language learners, language characteristics of preschool programs, and language composition of program staff.
In order to meet these new requirements, the PLIS was established for data collection. This data will be collected in a quarterly PLIS Report. The reporting schedule for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 will be as follows:

Comparing PLIS Report to CDD-801A
The PLIS to 801A Data Crosswalk has been created with the intention to be a resource for PLIS and Child Development Management Information System (CDMIS) users. This document displays all information fields contained within the PLIS Report, and the corresponding 801A data fields, if available. This document also displays all electronic file format specifications for accepted PLIS Report electronic files.

The PLIS Support Team held a PLIS Technical Assistance Webinar for all PLIS Users on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A zoom invite was sent out to all CSPP Program Directors, Executive Directors, and active PLIS Users. The webinar covered the following information:
