Product Description

Lettuce is characterized by compact heads, light green color, crisp texture, and delicate flavor.

Peak Growing Season

Iceberg lettuce is available all year in California; however, the peak season is April through October.

Uses

Use in salads, sandwiches, and as garnishes.

Preparation

Core iceberg lettuce by cutting the base out with a sharp knife and rinse the head under cold water. Cut into wedges, chop, or tear into bite-sized portions and serve.

Storage

The lettuce should be stored at 32–35 degrees Fahrenheit with a relative humidity of 90–95 percent. Store iceberg lettuce in perforated plastic bags wrapped in damp paper towels, and keep in the refrigerator vegetable crisper.

Best If Used By

Iceberg lettuce will last for five to seven days if refrigerated properly.
