CAIS was utilized from 2008 through June 2016 to support the monitoring implementation activities for the California Department of Education (CDE) including Local Educational Agency (LEA) Plans, Single Plan for Student Achievement, School Improvement Grants, Title III plans, Special Education, and Federal Program Monitoring (FPM).

As of January 2016, the California Department of Education Monitoring Tool (CMT) was implemented by CDE to support monitoring activities in place of CAIS. Information and data contained in CAIS was not transferred by CDE to the CMT.
