Intensive Level 2
Local educational agencies that have been identified as Intensive Level 2 are required to participate in all three steps of the Compliance and Improvement Monitoring process. This is the home page for that Level. If you have been identified as Intensive Level 2 in your March 14, 2022, Annual Determination Letter, you are required to participate in all three steps of the Compliance and Improvement Monitoring (CIM) process, some with the assistance and guidance of a technical assistance provider, and some under the California Department of Education's (CDE's) close supervision. The goal at the end of the monitoring period to have a fully developed improvement plan that seeks to implement a high leverage activity that will improve outcomes for students with disabilities in the local educational agency (LEA).
The CDE identifies for level 2 intensive monitoring and supports those LEAs that: (1) are in the bottom 4-7.99 percent of LEAs in outcomes for achievement, placement and school climate (suspension and attendance).
LEA identified for level 2 intensive monitoring and support do not conduct the CIM process independently. LEAs complete some activities with the assistance and guidance of a Technical Assistance (TA) provider provided by the state, but complete most activities under the CDE’s close supervision.
