The WAI Advisory welcomes public involvement. Opportunities for public comment are provided at every meeting.

Reasonable Accommodation for Any Individual With a Disability

  • Item 1 – Call to Order: Welcome and Introductions; Mission and Vision; Approval of Minutes.
9:15 to 10 a.m.
  • Item 2 – WAI Bylaws Review and Vote: The WAI Bylaws Subcommittee will share new information and engage in a vote on changes to WAI Advisory Committee Bylaws.
10 to 10:10 a.m.
  • Break

  • Item 3 – Workability Works for All Action Plan: Evaluate the current action plan, confirm progress, identify gaps, and determine any needed suggestions for the 2026–27 WAI Advisory committee to consider for next year's Action Plan.
10:40 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.
  • Item 4 – Committee and Regional Updates: Region co-managers and committee chairs share news, updates, and status on WAI Action Plans.
12:25 to 12:30 p.m.
  • Item 5 – Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. Chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.

  • Item 6 – California Department of Education Update: CDE staff will discuss recent developments within the SED, as well as updates to key areas related to the WAI grant. Will include CDE responses to Advisory recommendations from February meeting.
3 to 3:05 p.m.
  • Item 7 – Public Comment: General public comment is invited on any matter, including items not on the agenda. Issues raised by the public may be referred to a future meeting agenda. The chair reserves the right to establish time limits on presentations.
3:05 to 3:40 p.m.
  • Item 8 – College and Careers Transition Division: Representatives from the CDE College and Careers Transition Division will present on information provided within the Department of Industrial Relation’s California Youth Apprenticeship Report.
3:40 to 3:55 p.m.
  • Item 9 – WAI Emerging Topics: The WAI Advisory Committee will discuss issues affecting the state, which will include CDE Reporting and conditional status timelines.
3:55 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Item 2 – California Policy Center for Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (CPCIDD): A representative from the CPCIDD will present on the employment challenges facing adults with disabilities in California.

  • Item 5 – WAI Survey Results on Travel Expenditures and a Conversation: WAI Advisory will discuss the results of the survey on travel costs to attend WAI Advisory meetings.
