Dear County Superintendents of Schools:
Fourth Apportionment for Every Student Succeeds Act Comprehensive Support and Improvement County Offices of Education Plan Development and Implementation Support Subgrant Fiscal Year 2021–22
This apportionment, in the amount of $702,409, is made from federal funds provided to the state under Title I, Part A, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) (Public Law 114‒95). The ESSA requires local educational agencies (LEAs) with schools eligible for comprehensive support and improvement (CSI) to locally develop and implement a CSI plan to improve student outcomes. The Budget Act of 2021 appropriates $5 million to county offices of education (COEs) for CSI Plan Development and Implementation Support for LEAs in their county with schools eligible for CSI.
Only those COEs that submitted to the California Department of Education (CDE) the 2021‒22 ESSA CSI COE Plan Development and Implementation Support Application for Funding are included in this apportionment. The amount paid to each COE is based on a formula that takes into consideration the total number of schools eligible for CSI, statewide.
Amounts paid in this apportionment are listed on the schedule of apportionment posted under the funding tab on the CDE CSI COE Plan Development and Implementation Support web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r16/csicoefundingresults21.asp. The CDE is implementing cash management in order to reduce the time elapsing between the receipt and disbursement of federal funds, pursuant to the cash management requirements under federal statute and regulations.
