Quality Education Investment Act of 2006


Funding Description

Funding under the Quality Education Investment Act (QEIA) of 2006 supports specified activities to improved academic instruction and students' academic achievement. School districts and other local educational agencies may apply for funding to be used to help schools exceed their growth targets, reduce pupil-to-teacher ratios, reduce pupil-to-counselor ratio, and increase the number of highly qualified teachers.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Public schools and charter schools with a valid 2005 Academic Performance Index (API) ranked in either decile 1 or 2 including (1) schools currently funded in the High Priority Schools Grant Program that have not met the annual growth target requirements under Section 52055.650 and are designated as state monitored schools, provided the schools undergo a rigorous review directed by the superintednet of public instruction; or (2) those schools that met or are meeting the requirements of Section 52055.650 and agree to meet all accountability requirements of both programs.
