Government Affairs Division


The Government Affairs Division (1) develops legislation to promote departmental goals; (2) determines the position of the California Department of Education (CDE) on state legislation pertaining to public education, represents the CDE on such matters, and maintains state legislative liaison; (3) represents the CDE in regard to federal legislation and maintains congressional liaison; (4) facilitates communication between the State Superintendent and stakeholder groups; (5) initiates and maintains contact with public interest groups concerning the CDE's goals and programs; and (6) monitors the CDE’s implementation of legislative requirements.
