Computer Science Content Standards Development
The CDE, Instructional Quality Commission, and State Board of Education (SBE) are commencing the process for developing new California computer science content standards. Per California Education Code. Section 60605.4, "on or before July 31, 2019, the Instructional Quality Commission shall consider developing and recommending to the SBE computer science content standards for kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive, pursuant to recommendations developed by a group of computer science experts." Information and updates concerning the development of computer science content standards for California public schools will be posted here.

On July 12, 2017, the State Board of Education appointed 21 members to the CSSAC. The CSSAC will assist in the development of the California Computer Science Standards

On July 12, 2017 the State Board of Education approved guidelines to direct the work of the CSSAC.
Computer Science Strategic Implementation Plan
The California Department of Education, State Board of Education, and Legislature are commencing the process for developing California Computer Science Strategic Implementation Plan per California Education Code Section [53310–53315].
The CDE convened three focus group meetings to provide input on guidelines that will be utilized by a group of computer science experts who will be tasked to develop the new standards. The meetings were open to the public.
