Program Description
  • The IMFRP provided funding to school districts and county offices of education for the purchase of instructional materials. Funding was to be used first to provide each pupil with adopted standards-aligned instructional materials in the core curriculum areas of reading-language arts, mathematics, science, and history-social science.

  • Local educational agencies were required to provide written assurance of conformance to the Superintendent of Public Instruction that all purchases of instructional materials made with these funds conformed to law and the applicable rules and regulations adopted by the state board. (EC Section 60242.5).

  • The allocation was based on enrollment in kindergarten and grades one through twelve as reported in the prior year’s California Basic Educational Data System (CBEDS) report.

Flexibility
  • EC Section 42605 authorized complete flexibility for this funding for fiscal years 2008–09 through 2012–13. During those years and with specified conditions in subdivision (e), a school district or county office of education could use funds received for any educational purpose.
