Special Legislative Programs, Fiscal Year 2022–23

One-time funding added to the Budget Act of 2022 by Section 207 of Assembly Bill 179 (Chapter 249, Statutes of 2022) to support various initiatives through expanding or initiating new youth programs and retaining teachers.

Parents, Educators/Teachers & Students in Action (PESA)

One-time funding for truancy and absenteeism prevention programming. Specifically, the PESA will expand their school social workers and youth leaders program throughout Los Angeles County with a concentration in Senate District 24.  This funding will also allow PESA to put into effect a mobile office plan for delivery of its wrap around educational services in the community.

Teachers Rooted in Oakland (TRiO) Program

One-time funding to provide subsidized housing for STEM and Special Education teacher residents and income stipends for teachers who have graduated from their residency year but have committed to continue teaching in Oakland Unified School District for four years.
