Appendix A: Data Definitions

This appendix provides information of the family, child, and provider information fields from the CDD-801A Monthly Child Care Population Report and the CDD-801B Monthly Sample Report.
Important Notice: Programs Moved to CDSS

While the California Department of Education continues to operate the California State Preschool Program, the Early Childhood Development Act of 2020 (Senate Bill (SB) 98, Chapter 24, Statutes of 2020) authorized the transfer of many childcare programs from the California Department of Education to the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) effective July 1, 2021. Overview

The family, child, and provider information fields from the CDD-801A Monthly Child Care Population Report (CDD-801A) and the CDD-801B Monthly Sample Report (CDD-801B) are described in the Data Definitions. Each information field has its own definitions, guidelines, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

Note: Updates to the definitions of these information fields are made periodically; agencies are advised to remain apprised of system updates via CDMIS Updates.
